The need for clean energy around the globe is rapidly increasing. Over the next 20 years, demand for natural gas from the Asia Pacific region is projected to increase by a whopping 250%.

BC’s natural gas sector has the potential to supply clean energy across the globe, and generate an estimated $175 billion in total industry investment, fuelling job growth and economic prosperity for all British Columbians.

With an abundant energy resource and the know-how to bring it to the market, BC’s natural gas sector is poised to become a global leader. Before we can realize the potential, we must first address our biggest challenge: skills shortages.

About the Guide

The Ready to Hire Toolkit has been created for BC employers in the natural gas sector to increase their awareness of the value of hiring skilled immigrants and build their capacity to find, hire and retain skilled immigrants.

This comprehensive toolkit highlights the successes of businesses and organizations within the sector, and offers tools and resources to help employers better understand the overall labour situation and access a growing pool of experienced, internationally trained new Canadian talent.

Funded by the Government of Canada and the Province of BC, the Ready to Hire Toolkit builds on current best practice programs such as the Employer Innovation Fund as well as other tools developed by the Immigrant Employment Council of BC (IEC-BC), its partners and other innovative projects, such as the Northern BC Jobs campaign and The Hire Guide for the BC construction sector.
